The Love Necklace — Support the Love House and Watts House Project
Los Angeles-based artist Alexandra Grant has created the Love Necklace to raise awareness and resources for the Love House and the Watts House Project (WHP). WHP is an artist-driven neighborhood redevelopment that is aimed at improving the homes and lives of residents who live across the street from the historic Watts Towers.
Grant’s work uses language as the basis for images in painting, drawing and sculpture. For the Love House for WHP, Grant has proposed a sculpture of the word “love” be placed on the roof of the Cerant Family home on 107th Street, literally putting “love on the house.” The singular font and shape of the sculpture is copied in the elegant sterling silver Love Necklace, which embodies both the “hand-made” and the universal aspects of love.
The Love Necklace was recently curated by Kate and Laura Mulleavey of Rodarte into the Colette store in Paris, and has been featured on TeenVogue.com.
The necklace can be purchased online here, or in person at the Honor Fraser Gallery, LAXART, the Colette Store in Paris, and the Santa Monica Museum of Art. 100% of the profits from the Love Necklace benefit the Watts House Project.
